Numerical simulation of angled surface crack detection based on laser ultrasound

As an important branch of non-destructive testing, laser ultrasonic testing has attracted increasing attention in the field material because its instantaneity, non-contact and wide adaptability. Based on finite element method, process laser-excited signal is numerically simulated, influence angled cracks analyzed. In this paper, effects time function, pulse width, spot radius a Gaussian light source are analyzed through transient field. The different modes used to fit crack’s angle, depth, width complete characteristic analysis surface crack. results show that displacement peak-valley difference direct Rayleigh wave negatively correlated with crack angle. extremes transmitted boundary depth while positively correlated. This paper presents method for quantitative surface-angled provides theoretical basis further experimental verification.
